Acne comes in various forms and the most common ones are blackheads and whiteheads. These are harmless non-inflammatory acne but make the face quite unsightly.
With regard to topical acne creams, Vitamin A (retinol) can be effective, although a proportion of the population contract dry and flaking skin when they use it. In fact that is how it works: by promoting flaking off of the top skin cell. It is basically a topical form of the oral isotretinoin, but not as strong. It is not the perfect treatment, and like most acne treatments, it will suit some more than others.
Acne Rosacea is somewhat more intense in that it affects an entire section of a persons body, whether it be on their face, back, arms, etc. The appearance of large red spots is a direct result of the bloody supplying capillaries to the face or otherwise, are continually dilated, allowing for an excess amount of blood flowing into the affected area. While not being necessarily uncomfortable physically, Acne Rosacea can be extremely painful in the sense of affecting a teens self-esteem as well as an adult's.
